At the begging of the play, Twelfth Night, Shakespeare commences with a statement in which the character Orsino equates music with food. Orsino says,

“If Music be food of love, play on;

Give me excess of it, that surfeiting,

The appetite may sicken, and so die (1.1.1-3).”
