Abstract: The entire education system in ancient India have its superior involvement with a flexible and multidisciplinary education process, especially within popular universities such as Nalanda and Takshashila University. The education policy taken by the British government in India mainly focuses on providing selective education to people in India to provide them with two scope to perform different clerical works of the British Government in India. The national education policy has launched In India on 28th July 2020, to establish a more holistic and multidisciplinary system within the country. The entire study has kept its focus on evaluating the NEP 2020 and discussing the holistic and multidisciplinary approach to the education system in India. A large number of secondary qualitative data and information has been gathered within the entire study to gain superior insight into NEP 2020 and multidisciplinary education strategy. The entire study has found the implementation of the NEP 2020, mostly escalated the quality of the academic education all around India.

Introduction

The education system within the country impacts the overall social-economical future of the country, the effective steps taken by the government and education policymakers within the country have a higher influence on the overall educational and ethical knowledge of the upcoming generation within the country. Thus, in order to enhance the future growth of a country and enhance the knowledge and education level of the new generation within the country it is essential to take up positive steps forwards in improving the education policy within the country. It most effectively helps to enhance the overall ethical, social, constitutional, academic, and technological knowledge of the individuals within the country and assists to witness a superior growth of the society within the country’s periphery. The escalating rate of social disturbances and unemployment issues within a country can be mitigated by undertaking steps toward enhancing the education policy within the country. Thus, the government of India has been taking a number of steps to enhance the overall education system within the country through the support of the National Education Policy (NEP). The steps taken by the new national educational policy it has been focused to provide effective education to each inhabitant of India through strategic actions to emphasize the need for an equitable and inclusive education system. The entire study is going to be evaluated the holistic and multidisciplinary approach to education in India while keeping the focus on elaborating on the overall changes comes forth by NEP within the country’s education system.

India has faced a number of crisis within its education system since its independence time, in many sectors the discriminative attitudes of the society has made the overall educational and academic facilities for the upper-class people within the country. The number of schools within the remote village areas was also significantly low which escalates the deficiency of education or academic support for a large number of people all around India. The process of providing education to people all around the country has been undertaken within its education policy in the early twenties by the arrival of SSA (Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan) the country. It mostly provides support to provide education to all the people in India without any gender, social, or caste-oriented discrimination within the country. Although, the high rate of corruption and poor social structure within the country has reduced the overall success rate of the SSA policy all around India. The newly launched NEP (National Education Policy), in the fiscal year of 2020, comes forth with a number of technological supports within the education system and proposed inter-disciplinary education strategy in order to establish effective educational background within the country. NEP focuses on providing education by following a holistic approach within the education policy and provides effective academic support, especially across each science-oriented strand to escalate the level of knowledge harmony and educational integrity within the country. This particular study will go on to evaluate A holistic and multidisciplinary approach to education in India by analyzing the NEP introduced in 2020. Various key conceptual literature and data-oriented with the NEP 2020 and A holistic and multidisciplinary approach to education in India will be elaborated within the entire study. The key objectives which will go to be concentrated within the entire discussion have shown below.

The overall study has kept its focus on discussing the NEP 2020: a holistic and multidisciplinary approach to education in India. Thus, in order to perform the entire study efficiently and build an empirical understanding of the NEP 2020 and the holistic and multidisciplinary approach to education in India, it needs to gather a large source of non-numeric and textual data within the study. The quantitative types of data within a research help to gain insight from various numeric information about a certain topic while the qualitative types of data come forth from various non-numeric and textual data within a study. Thus, in order to meet the need for textual data, the study will go to be used various qualitative types of data and information within the entire study.

The secondary data collection method within a research work helps to gather a large source of topic-oriented data through exploring various primary sources of data available on the internet. Various topic-oriented data which has helped to perform the entire study has gathered from various authentic and peer-reviewed online sites through secondary data collection method. It mostly helps to develop a superior idea for NEP 2020 and bring forth the most effective findings within the study. The data and information which has published before 2019 and does not publish in the English language have been taken within the exclusion category of the study. On the other hand, the information published in authentic and peer-reviewed sites onwards 2019 in the English language has been taken within the inclusion category within the entire study.

Theme 1: A Multidisciplinary Approach to Education in India Case study on NEP 2020.

An effective Multidisciplinary Approach within the education system mostly helps to provide superiorly illustrated and effective education to the students on a certain topic or issue which is aimed to discuss within the class. A multidisciplinary Approach is a technique to provide learning on a certain topic through analyzing different perspectives and disciplines upon a certain topic which helps enhance the knowledge and understanding level of the students upon a certain educational topic. The process involves various technological equipment, different themes, and diverse perspective on a certain topic which has been focused on a Multidisciplinary Approach within the education system. The Government of India has been concentrating on establishing a superior and effective Multidisciplinary Approach within its education system all around the country as per the educational strategy of NEP 2020 within the country. The overall educational and academic institutions within India are mandated to follow the newly launched national educational policy within the country and use Multidisciplinary Approach in time of providing academic learning on a certain topic. Academic institutions all around the country will go to use a large number of technological tools focused on elaborating all associative perspectives of certain issues discussed within the academic session. It most significantly helps to escalate the overall depth and understand ability of the people within the academic sectors all around India.

A multidisciplinary approach within the education system mainly keeps its eyes on providing a form of education to each student within an education system to bring together a large number of disciplines to build a holistic learning experience within academic institutions. The entire process involves the Multidisciplinary Approach mostly helps to foster the understanding of the interconnectivity of different subjects and the knowledge to apply those learning’s to enhance the problem-solving ability of an individual within the education system. As mentioned by Singh (2023), in order to improve the educational system within the country the national education policy has kept its concentration on establishing Multidisciplinary Approach in school education firstly and in higher university education within the country. It will provide key support to improve educational effectiveness within the country and provides a superior understanding of different complex and descriptive topics within the academic area. It will mostly help to escalate the overall learning and problem-solving ability of the upcoming generation in India and reduce the rate of unemployment within the country.

Theme 2: Steps are taken toward multidisciplinary in higher education and strategic implementation of NEP 2020.

The effective steps taken by the Government of India, to implement the multidisciplinary higher education system most significantly assists the students belonging to higher educational area to enhance their educational learning level. The entire process to adopt multidisciplinary within the higher academic area within a country helps to provide vast and enhanced academic learning to the students through meeting different perspectives and associated themes on a certain educational topic. It mostly escalates the overall knowledge of the individuals belonging to higher education to analyzing different related themes and perspectives which mostly enhances the analytical and judgemental ability of the students on a certain educational or controversial topic related to the academic syllabus. The implication of multidisciplinary processes within the education and academic area mostly evolves the overall ability of the teachers within an academic periphery to make students understand different perspectives oriented to the topic and helps to escalate their diplomatic analytical ability. In the field of higher education, each subject and the sub-topics are closely interconnected with each other, especially in the science stream. It makes it highly essential to implement a multidisciplinary approach within higher education to escalate the understand ability and depth of the knowledge for the student in the recent days higher education system in India.

NEP, 2020 has its superior inclination and focus to establish a multidisciplinary approach within the higher education system in India. As mentioned by Bharti (2022), the futuristic and superior implication of national educational policy has its superior inclination to implement steps toward a holistic, multidisciplinary, and, progressive approach to the country’s higher education system to enhance the human potential within the country. The author also mentioned the quote from Aristotle “Educating the mind without educating the heart is no education at all!”. In order to educate the mind and hearts of the students it is essential to provide detailed learning’s and knowledge on a certain academic topic while analyzing various different themes and perspectives which are related to the academic topic. The process of taking steps towards making effective implementation of NEP 2020, and multidisciplinary approaches within the higher education system will make its engagement to provide a detailed understanding of a topic to analyze different disciplines and perspectives related to the topic in education. It will mostly assist to enhance the effectiveness of the higher education system in India and provide superior academic learning to the students belonging to higher education all around India.

Theme 3: Revaluing the education system in India through the implementation strategy of NEP 2020 towards a multi-disciplinary approach in education.

The effective implementation of the NEP 2020 mostly helps to revolutionize the entire education system in India. The liberal and technical education law within the country has been introduced by the British government in India before independence which helps to establish a large number of schools and colleges within the country and escalate the number of educated people within the country. The basic aim of the British government through taking steps towards implementing liberal and technical education policy within the country and establishment of various educational institutes within the country had its basic aim to increase individuals within the country to perform clerical jobs to run the colonial administration in India. The new national educational policy launched in 2020, comes with a large number of significant and innovative educational approaches within the country to escalate the overall knowledge and learning’s of the individuals from academic sessions. The overall strategy of NEP 2020, focuses on rethinking the educational approach within the country and focus on elaborating how to think rather than what to think. It mostly helps to revolutionize the overall academic and education system all around India and increase the knowledge and efficiency of the people in India to escalate their ability to achieve a superior position within their professional careers.

The overall insights of the student are affected due to the lack of multi-disciplinary approaches within education and the lack of analysis of the associated perspectives within education in India. Hence, it orders to enhance the effectiveness of the educational policy and the academic support towards the long-term career growth of the individual to become critically important to take steps towards implementing a multi-disciplinary approach within the educational system in India. The national education policy in India mostly concentrates on providing detailed and empirical insights on different science-oriented subjects to the students to enhance their logical sense and problem-solving capability. According to Srivastava (2022), The Union Cabinet of India approved the national educational policy (NEP) on 28th July 2020 to improve the overall educational academic knowledge of each student within the country despite of their social status, gender, cast, and other discriminative factors. It mostly helps to implement a multi-disciplinary approach to education and analyze various co-related perspectives, topics, and themes within the academic session to enhance the learning of the individual from the governmental, government-sponsored, and non-governmental initiatives within the education system.

The Universities and the school authorities all around India have shown their key interest and inclination towards the implication of the multidisciplinary education style within the country and taking more diplomatic steps towards liberal education and ensuring equity and inclusion within the education system. The overall processes which have been portrayed through NEP 2020, have its superior strategic plan of action to mitigate discrimination issues within the education field and impose a multidisciplinary education system to enhance the thinking ability of the students. Thus, it escalates the growth of the educational system within the country and increases the self-dependency level of the new generation in India.

The University Education Commission set up in 1948 can be taken as the first governmental step to improve the educational system within the country after the independence. The lack of multi-disciplinary options within India’s education system restricts the students to accommodate the knowledge about the different traits where the individual has their interests. According to Bhatt (2022), the students after completing the matriculation asked to choose streams with a bunch of subjects with a rare scope to change the subject in the future, which increases the rate of students learning a certain trade which often not according to the individual’s choice. It mostly reduces the effectiveness of educational success within the country. In India, a large number of students have witnessed significant discomfort within the country’s education system which has mostly occurred due to a lack of scope to change subjects or trade after facing issues or lack of interest while learning a particular subject. Hence, to provide higher comfort and learn subjects or trades according to choice a multidisciplinary education within the country. The NEP 2020, is keeping its focus on establishing a non-discriminative and effective multidisciplinary education process within the country to provide scope to the students to avail a selection of subjects according to their interests.

The overall strategy in the education system proposed within NEP 2020, provides key support to enhance the entire education system within India. As mentioned by Kumar (2021), the key pillar of the national education policy (NEP, 2020), is to establish a liberal which signifies holistic and multidisciplinary education to enhance the knowledge of the student’s fundamental interconnectivity of human knowledge and inquiry. The author has also explained the process of liberal and multidisciplinary education is able to unlock human’s inherent capabilities such as moral, intellectual, social, aesthetic, physical, physical, and emotional capabilities in a more integrated manner. Thus, it mostly helps to escalate the overall physical and mental strength of the students and provides them to think logically to judge a certain issue. The application of the multidisciplinary education approach proposed within national education policy (NEP, 2020), to enhance the entire effectiveness of the education system in India. Nalanda and Takshashila are examples of ancient educational institutions in India where 64 ‘arts’ have been taught within the universities. Different aesthetic knowledge such as music and painting, different scientific fields such as chemistry and mathematics, vocational learning’s such as carpentry and clothes-making, professional education in medicine and engineering as well as soft skills such as debate, and discussion taught within the Nalanda and Takshashila universities. It actually portrayed the superior, flexible, effective, Multidisciplinary Education process used within the education system in ancient India. The modern educational policy has been introduced in India through the support of the British government to escape the capable human workforce within the country to perform different strategic operations of the British government in India. Discussion

The entire study has been performed in order to analyze the NEP 2020 and to build a superior insight into a holistic and multidisciplinary approach. Various secondary qualitative data have been collected within the entire study to come forth with an effective idea on the topic within the study. The basic concept of the multidisciplinary can be defined as the process to provide a scope towards to students to enhance their learning outcomes while discussing various co-related and multiple viewpoints to teach a certain educational topic as per the findings. The entire study has also found the initial educational policy taken by University Education Commission in 1948 helps to escalate a liberal education structure within the country. Although, the poor execution and discriminative behaviourr of the society come forth critical stumble block to providing effective and flexible education to each people within the country. The overall proposal of the national educational policy (NEP) introduced in 2020 mostly escalates the educational quality and escalate the scope for liberal and Multidisciplinary Education systems within the education system all around India. The NEP, 2020 provides key scope to the student to select subjects and trades according to their likelihood within various governmental, government-aided, and non-governmental institutions in India.

The entire study has also mentioned in ancient India the overall education system within universities such as Nalanda and Takshila universities a flexible and Multidisciplinary Education approach was present which attracts various foreign learners to come to visit in India. The modern school and education system has introduced in India by the British to fulfil their need to perform different administrative and clerical tasks to run its colony in India. The basic issue and limitation of the old education policy since independence mainly oriented with the lack of a Multidisciplinary Education approach which restricts students to chose different subjects from diverse trades according to their likelihood. Hence, it is highly essential to develop a Multidisciplinary Education system within the country to enhance the learning and academic learning effectiveness of students all around the country. The entire study has come forth with the decisions for the overall implementation of the NEP 2020, which is highly essential within India’s education system to escalate the scope for Multidisciplinary Education within the country. It not only escalates the comfort level of the students but also increases their scope to establish within a chosen position in recent days’ competitive market. Hence, it can be claimed that according to the findings that the overall process involve within NEP, 2020 with a holistic and multidisciplinary approach helps to come forth revolution and enhance the overall quality of the education system in India.

Conclusion

In order to enhance the success rate and effectiveness of the educational structure within the country to provide higher education to each individual within the country national educational policy has been introduced in India on 28th July 2020. The newly launched national educational plan in India has its key focus on establishing a liberal, holistic, and multidisciplinary education system within India. The entire study has aimed to discuss the overall concept of NEP 2020 and analysis the holistic and multidisciplinary education approach to education all around India to escalate the flexibility and effectiveness of the educational structure in India.
